This Year's Model Updates:

Although completely redesigned last year, the Mazda MX-5 Miata still sees a number of big changes for 2007. A retractable hardtop model joins the line, trim levels are shuffled and renamed and power output numbers change slightly due to the implementation of new SAE power-rating standards.

Pros:
  • Huge fun factor, precise steering and handling, low base price, economical to operate.
Cons:
  • Still snug for large adults, stability control only available on top trim level.

  • Miata MX-5 is awesome! - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Driving this car brings me happiness as well as enjoy the sun shines. It allows not only to move from one point to another but gives you emotions and lots of fun with no speeding or dangerous driving. I have never had any problems or issues with my car given I had technical maintenance twice. The only thing you might care about is driving in mountains during the winter. But I did drive to Mt. Hood three times, so nothing is impossible. Just dont forget its rear-wheel drive car with all its positives and a few negatives.

  • Not an S2000 - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Last NC before the goofy grin. Very noisy, if next to a Jersey barrier, forget conversation. Worse with the top up. All the noise comes from the tires. First gear on 6-speed way too low, as is 6th. The 5 speed with an overdrive would have been better. Shifting very notchy even after 26000 miles. Engine very good, very flexible. Does not like low octane fuel, clatters like a can of bolts. Steering, handling, braking are excellent. Wheel arches are too big - see BMW for how this should be done. Mine had 2 replacement fuel caps in warranty - poor sealing causes CEL to come on. It still comes on, so I ignore it, and turn it off by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes when I have time. Mazda and their service sucks. I put 100,000 miles on a 1980 626 and had only a dome light bulb fail, yet now they cant even make an adequate gas cap. The clutch needs a bigger master cylinder, the pedal has to be pushed all the way to the floor for a decent shift - on most vehicles a little dip is enough. Overall, the car handles and performs much better than the Formula Ford I used to race. Pity theyve gone ninja with their latest models, which like most of their competitors offerings are ugly enough to gag a maggot.

  • Pure Fun - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

This car is pure fun. Most bang for the buck. With the suspension package, traction control, and stability control cornering is superb and virtually no nose dive when braking. Ride is suprisingly smooth for such a short wheelbase and suspension package. The MX5 fits like a glove and everything is in its proper place except for the cup holders in the console which I have found to be a good place to stash gasoline receipts. The Copper Red Mica with tan leather has drawn nothing but compliments. Gas mileage is impressive returning 30 mpg in the first 600 miles of which only 200 has been highway driving. The convertible top is a marvel, just unlatch it and heave it over your shoulder.

  • Timeless Elegance - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Exudes the timeless elegance of a British roadster unlike any convertible on the market. It says "look at me" in such a mature, polite manner. Responsive yet surprisingly comfortable, the MX-5 drives/handles as well or better than European automobiles (expertly crafted in Japan).

  • Painfully fun to drive - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Loved the car, but couldnt take the low, hard seats and harsh ride. I do not think that the 17" tires helped the ride quality as well. Sold the car after only two months of ownership. It was fun to drive and got 27 mpg.

  • Not for everyone, perfect for some - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Accept its design and purpose and dont buy it if or complain theres not enuf room or power. This is a specialty car designed for specific drivers who want a dedicated purpose and ride.

  • Solid and Fun - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata
    By -

I bought the 2007 MX-5 Grand Touring in 2007 and sold my original year 1990 Miata to a friend. That car had 202,000 miles on it. He still drives it. I have plenty of experience driving this vehicle to know it is reliable. If you want to get from point A to B and have a blast doing it this is your car. This is one of those cars that when the weather is right and top is down on the car you can get in a zone driving and you dont want to stop. The word fun is thrown around a lot with this car and perfectly fits what this car is. For the money its like getting a much more expensive sports car. About the only con is this rear wheel drive vehicle is not meant for snow. If you live in a cold climate have another car to drive during those months.

  • Great Overall - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata
    By -

I looked at a number of cars for several years. In the course of searching I narrowed my criteria to maximum value for few dollars. That eliminated Porsches, BMWs, MBs and a number of other cars. I chose the MX-5 because it was not a compromise. It drives exceptionally, the new interior is first rate, the exterior restyle is spot on and I didnt have to sell a kidney to get it. What really sold me though is that this is what a sports car is. It reminds me of what made cars so important in my life and what made me want a car that was "special". The MX-5 is special. I can race this car if I choose, modify it to make it better or leave bone stock and its just great. Its just perfect.

  • Darn near perfect. - 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata
    By -

Went from a 1991 Miata to this. BIG upgrade. A tiny bit more sterile than the jittery, vibrating 1991, but better in every way. Enough power, extremely well balanced yet controlled. Turns commutes into an enjoyable experience.
